Less than a week to the “Exercises in Style” exhibition and newspaper launch.

“But what would have happened had I made this series with a clear aim of following predictable formulas, taking into account all transformative tools and art theory, to make images that, in terms of content, were not conveying anything? How would it affect the viewer trying to grasp the mental image, looking for clues and meanings (apophenia comes to mind) where, in fact, there were none?

“In his recent series Exercises in Style Jaka Babnik focuses on some of the most fundamental questions about creating photographic and/or art works. In a manner of stylistic exercises he explores transformative tools and unwritten criteria that enable, and constitute, so called quality photograph or work of art, both from the point of view of its technical and formal implementation, as well as in terms of choice of subject matter and its intended purpose.
